During my work as a clinical mental health nurse and mental health academic, I quickly became aware of the need for emotional wellbeing educational programs. With the noticeable increase in stress related work absences, both employers and employees were needing practical support. The development of these mental health programs comes from a theoretical background of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). These programs are however highly interactive, providing strong practical skill based approaches to achieving better mental balance and increasing mental health literacy. I facilitate these programs at the WA Centre for Rural Health, Geraldton.
