Yoga Style

I teach a Hatha Flow style of yoga which is a gentle introduction to the yoga postures. During the class, students are encouraged to coordinate their breath and movement, to flow from one pose to another. My classes cater to beginners as I offer many options for the various postures and, for those who like to be challenged, they will be given a different set of options to extend their practice. By the end of a Hatha Flow class, you should be feeling longer, looser, and more relaxed. I pay particular attention to mindfulness during my classes, drawing the student’s attention to self-awareness and self-compassion.

Children's Yoga and Yoga in Schools

The ancient art of yoga is taught to children in a playful way, but still introducing them to the important yoga principles focusing on the physical and mental benefits. These yoga classes are designed especially for children aged 6 to 12 years.  They will learn yoga poses, breathing and relaxation exercises, which cultivate a calm mind, increase strength and flexibility, improve gross and fine motor skills, improve concentration, and help them understand how to identify and manage their feelings. This fun, non-competitive class is ideal to bring themes to life such as team play and being kind to others.  Children’s yoga classes are very different to adult classes: we jump around, play games and monkey around with big smiles on our faces.

Children’s yoga classes are held in the school holidays on the foreshore.  Parents are welcome to watch!

If you’re interested in bringing Yoga into schools, please contact me.  We can discuss how to introduce this great gift to our children.
